Can someone break down the "younger" neighbourhoods in Christchurch? We want to rent in an area walkable to bars/restaurants/shops but most importantly want to be in a safe neighborhood. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as we are moving in three weeks.

Hi Catherine,

Papanui is a popular area in Christchurch which allows its residents easy access to facillities such as restaurants, bars and shops.

Sumner and Ferrymead are also very popular areas with young people, especially surfers and those that enjoy being away from the city centre. It also has its fair share of bars and clubs.

Take a look at the Accommodation in Christchurch page for more information.

Best of luck with the move.
