Background
Education is a journey, and at the Australian International School Saigon (AIS), we support all students, whether they are with us for some or all of their schooling. AIS is well-known for the ability, commitment and care of its teaching and administrative staff, which ensures that students are fully and carefully prepared for university. AIS offers a wide range of academic, artistic and creative subjects; and teachers cater for each student individually, guiding them academically and socially.
At AIS, all students are given a high-quality, fully accredited international education across all year levels. The school does this by identifying and supporting the academic, social, emotional and physical needs and abilities of each student.
Beyond the classroom
AIS offers a wide range of opportunities to develop students as well-rounded individuals. Camps to regional and international destinations; local and international sports competitions (including the annual Australian International Schools Association meet); and extracurricular activities like music, debating, chess, swimming, soccer and basketball are all important in teaching our students valuable social, emotional and leadership skills, while ensuring that they lead balanced and well-rounded lives. These opportunities provide children with the confidence to achieve their potential. AIS is also a very community-focused school, with many events throughout the year, not just for our own community, but beyond, supporting others in Vietnam and the wider region. The school is well-known for its support of the Loreto Foundation and the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation.
Facilities
AIS has two outstanding purpose-built campuses in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. These facilities include science labs, dedicated art, music, design and technology studios, and a comprehensive digital platform for BYOD and computer-based learning. In addition, there is a large auditorium with exhibition areas; award-winning 25m salt-water swimming pools; two 'learn to swim' wading pools; outdoor basketball and tennis courts; astroturf soccer fields and a huge air-conditioned indoor gymnasium. Our kindergarten facilities have their own enclosed and secure playgrounds.
Fees
Fees for the 2024/2025 year range from VND 285,900,000 for Infants Kindergarten, to VND 816,600,000 for Year 13. The fees are payable before the start of the school year, but there are options to pay in two or four instalments, except for Year 13.
From the principal
"As parents, we want the best for our children. We want them to have opportunities to learn, to be challenged, to develop life skills and to build friendships in a safe and secure environment. In doing so, they will become successful in life. AIS works closely with parents to help their children achieve these goals. We have high expectations for our students and are proud of what they have achieved. AIS is committed to excellence in all we do, especially in the classroom. We are also committed to providing students with multiple opportunities in sport, the arts, community service, leadership and life-skills to assist them to become responsible global citizens and life-long learners with the confidence to achieve their potential."
– Jon Standen, Executive Principal
From the parents
"After deciding to make the move to Vietnam in 2016, our first agenda item was placing our 15-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter in the most appropriate school. From the outset, AIS personnel provided us with a level of reassurance that our children’s education would be in safe hands. Harrison and Holly have now completed two years at AIS and upon reflection our entire family could not have hoped for a more seamless transition. AIS provides modern facilities, a safe environment along with extensive co-curricular opportunities where all students are encouraged and supported. The AIS teaching staff are incredibly dedicated and were quick to identify both our children’s individual strengths and qualities. Whilst there is pressure to perform, in particular the senior years, the teaching staff deliver the curriculum in a way that promotes learning, self-responsibility and accountability. We have observed this over the past two years where both children have grown from being dependent to increasingly more independent learners. As parents, we believe that AIS will provide both Holly and Harrison the resilience, confidence and knowledge to embrace what lies beyond AIS."
