After its humble family beginnings in 1997, The British International School (BIS HCMC) has firmly established itself as the international school of choice in Ho Chi Minh City. It is a selective, independent and co-educational day school that provides a diverse international education measured by British standards. 22 years on, they continue to be at the forefront of education, inspiring an international student body to achieve outstanding academic success in an innovative and dynamic environment.
BIS HCMC is the largest international school in Vietnam and is part of the world’s leading premium schools organisation, Nord Anglia Education. It operates from three impressive campuses in the residential area of District 2, catering for students from 2 to 18 years of age. All campuses boast first-class facilities and are staffed with internationally trained teachers who are committed to nurturing and inspiring every child they care for.
The school offers one-of-a-kind opportunities inside and outside the classroom, enhancing student learning through collaborations with the world’s best organisations. Their unique community service programme, extensive choice of co-curricular activities, and global expeditions provide students with a range of opportunities to develop life ready characteristics such as leadership, critical thinking, and empathy.
BIS HCMC is fully accredited by the prestigious Council of International Schools (CIS) and is a registered centre for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). It is also a designated IB World School, is recognised by the UK government as an overseas school and is a full participating member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA).
The school provides a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum to meet the wide-ranging needs of its students. At primary level, BIS operates within the framework of the National Curriculum for England and the International Primary Curriculum, whilst secondary students are prepared for both the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). With these qualifications, BIS students have a well-established reputation of progressing into the top universities around the world.
For the 2022/2023 school year, primary fees range from VND 547,200,000 to VND 611,400,000, while secondary ranges from VND 704,700,000 to VND 807,400,000. Fees can be paid annually or termly.

From the principal
“You will find that BIS is a very welcoming community and new students very quickly feel at home within our inclusive community. The happiness and contentment of our students are of utmost importance to us: the academic success that we achieve comes about through rigour, hard work and discipline, but also through a very strong pastoral element that accompanies the emotional development of our students.
"This is absolutely vital and it is why we purposefully nurture a working environment that means students work hard, work smart, but also take risks and try new ideas in their learning processes.
"We focus on developing the individual talents and strengths of each child with transformative learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom. For example, the significance of community service is an integral part of the educational ethos of BIS HCMC and a compulsory part of the school curriculum. The community service programme includes over 50 projects spanning the entire student population of the school. The majority of the projects are designed to focus on time and energy donated by the students rather than fundraising, which in turn leads to a 'hands on approach' thus enabling sustainability.
"Through this and many other co-curricular opportunities, including clubs, sports, local and international expeditions, and leadership opportunities, our students become confident, adaptable, polite, open-minded and tolerant individuals, who are inspired to become responsible and active global citizens."
Quotes from parents
“I would recommend BIS HCMC to anyone moving to Ho Chi Minh... because among the schools that I have visited prior to deciding which school to send my children to, BIS had the warmest, most welcoming and most organised atmosphere. The teachers had bright smiles on their faces as they were talking to the class, and they were patient to wait for the non-English-speaking parents to finish talking. Also, the admissions team were great in communicating and quickly responded back with even the smallest detail, and I was able to prepare for the school abroad with confidence.”
