Background

The Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS) offers an education guided by a blend of East and West. The school uses a fully bilingual approach from kindergarten through to elementary school, where classes are taught by both a Chinese and an international teacher. In secondary school, students can take Chinese as an Additional Language (CAL) or Chinese as a First Language (CFL). There are also weekly classes in Chinese Culture Studies.

From kindergarten up to Year 9, teaching is based on the English National Curriculum. The Cambridge IGCSE is taken in Years 10 and 11, with schooling culminating in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Year 12.
