What the school says

“Southbank International School is the first school in the UK authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate Programmes. For more than 30 years, we’ve been at the forefront of providing internationally relevant, world-class education.

“At Southbank, adventure isn’t just for the weekend or the holidays. It’s built into every day of the academic exploration and discovery for Southbank students. Helping them to develop as independent, confident, curious and lifelong learners who fulfil their academic potential and take the natural next step into the world’s best universities.

“We encourage our students to think critically and always challenge assumptions, developing an inner confidence to follow their path through university and into later life.

“We ensure our students have an openness to the outside world and are ready to see other points of view. These qualities help our students develop and broaden their minds while excelling in their academic studies.

“We are very proud of our school and understand that not everyone will be able to visit before they join us. We have produced virtual tours of all our campuses, and we encourage you to explore these to gain an initial insight into what to expect when you arrive. To take a virtual tour, please visit our website.”

From the principal

“Southbank International School is an IB World School that is committed to academic rigour and a liberal ethos and celebrates diversity.

“Our students are very independent, articulate, passionate and caring. The teaching encourages critical reflection, and students become excellent at developing skills that will last them a lifetime, in and out of the workplace.

“The atmosphere at Southbank is friendly and warm, with an immense enthusiasm for learning from both pupils and teachers.

“Our number one personal education ethos is that students need to be looked after and be happy; happier children learn better. Beyond that, we should build their confidence and independence and encourage self-regulation.

“We have an extensive and broad extracurricular programme across all of our schools. They provide the opportunity for students to investigate something that may become a real passion later in life.

“We make sure our schools are places where trust, respect and transparency are at the heart of student-teacher relationships. Our teachers know that a school environment that is open and trusting will mean our students come forward if they need help, and we can identify how to support them quickly if needed.”

What the parents say

“Southbank is a school that allows the student to develop at their own pace. And there’s a lot of support to ensure that the student reaches his or her full potential. It’s not a hothouse school, yet the children do really well, and that’s a good reflection on the school. For parents who are looking for a school where their child is going to be happy and challenged and have this incredibly broad education that the IB gives, Southbank is a really good choice.”
