My boyfriend and I are both 25 and have been living in London since graduating university. Although we love London (food, liveliness, open park spaces... to name a few things), we would like to experience living somewhere else while we are still young and have limited commitments.

Can I cater for my food intolerance in Malmö, Sweden?

Expert Info

Submitted by sheena_macfarl… on
Destination: Sweden

Currently living in the Netherlands, since 2014, originally from the UK. I've seen a job, in Malmo, for which I might apply. The problem or worry is my food intolerances - I am severely intolerant of whey (so no dairy), sugar (stevia etc I think is okay), corn, oats etc Gluten is absolutely fine. I avoid soy too. I use almond milk but it needs to be additive and sugar free. Plus I eat sourdough bread, avoiding yeast as much as possible. These things are not a fussy eater's choice - it's all dictated by health issues.

Heyyyy everyone!

I've always wanted to experience living in a different country. Born and raised in NYC, United States of America, I've interacted with people from all over. And I just want to experience and explore. I'm looking to live in Johannesburg for 6-months to a year, just to test it out and eventually set up shop for good. If anyone can give me the in's and out, it will be greatly appreciated.

What's the best way to move with my desktop computer to Saudia Arabia?

Expert Info

Submitted by calebkeller94 on
Destination: Saudi Arabia

Hi all! I am moving to Jeddah in August to teach. I'm very excited about this opportunity.

I own a very nice desktop computer that has a lot of my teaching materials on it as well as all of my important personal documents. It's an expensive desktop and houses a lot of important stuff for me. None of it is illegal or at odds with Saudi Arabia's import restrictions.

I'm curious of the best way to get it into the country, if it can be brought with me or, ideally, shipped over. Any advice is very appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all,

My name is Thomas from Germany and I´ve got a job offer for moving to Hong Kong.

Monthly salary would be 65,000HK$ + 5,000HK$ transportation allowance. (before tax)

In addition 35,000HK$ housing allowance. I´m aiming for a 2 bedroom apartment in Kowloon/Jordan/Mong Kok. Possible?

I need to get private health insurance & dental insurance. Any references regarding the costs?

I´ve checked costs for mobile plans, bank accounts, lifestyle costs. That´s fine so far.

International School Recommendations for Kuala Lumpur?

Expert Info

Submitted by Vinita on
Destination: Kuala Lumpur

Hello,

It will be a great help (as we will be new to KL and have absolutely no clue about schools) if few IGCSE schools (fees below 50, 000 MR per child) can be recommended for my children who are at secondary level. Top priorities are the high quality of education with good teachers/principal, good results, and discipline.

Thanking in advance!

I'm Indian with family of 4. I'll be moving to Hong Kong in October. Before signing the contract, I want someone to please advice me on the below.

1. I'm a Elevator engineer, coming as an Area Manager, my company offered me a salary of 25000HKD. Is this enough to move close to where my kids will go to school?

2. They are giving me housing allowance of monthly 15000HKD, do you think is it sufficient for a 2bhk. We would like to stay some where near Qurray Bay, as my office is there.

Please can someone guide me.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the pre-hire process for a job over in Kuwait, & I have a major concern regarding getting my dog over there with me. Do any of you know where I can find up to date information regarding breed, size, age, etc restrictions? Or do any of you have information yourselves? Also, I've heard that in order to get my pup over there, I would need a Kuwaiti sponsor. Any truth to that? Thanks in advance.

Recently, I spent a week in Shannon and basically spent the time driving around and exploring things. I’ve always wanted to make a home in Ireland, and this trip feels like it's just hammered home that I belong there. I’m currently looking at moving to the Co. Limerick / Co. Clare area.
Here are my primary concerns.

She isn't looking for an agency that can provide experienced nannies with referrals. If you know of any please advise.

What options do I have for a work Visa?

I am also considering obtaining a D8 visa as last resort but have difficulties finding an exact amount of investment that has to be made in order to be eligible.

Does anyone have advice for expats moving to Shanghai?

Expert Info

Submitted by Sam243 on
Destination: Shanghai

I have previously lived in Shanghai for 2 years. We are likely moving back at the end of the year and I have a few questions:

1) Do they still require expats to go to that medical clinic and get checked-out before they allow the visa. The one where you have to drive out of the city and they do chest x-rays and TB checks, etc.

2) How was the pollution last winter? I have looked at the AQI, but wanted to hear first hand. I have a young child and this concerns me.

How do I find a job offer in the UK?

Expert Info

Submitted by Julia M on
Destination: Edinburgh

Hello,

My husband and I would like to move from New Zealand to either Scotland or Ireland, with our two children. We have NZ passports, so one of us would need to secure a job offer with a work visa before we leave NZ.

I think we fall under the Critical Skills list of occupations in both countries. My husband works in finance and I'm a media professional.

But how do we save time by going about approaching employers for job offers? Do we bother with recruitment agencies, or go to employers directly?

Hello,

I work in the UK and I'm planning to spend some time working remotely in Portugal. I will pay social security (i.e. national insurance) in the UK. I believe that I will need an A1 form to prove to the Portuguese authorities that I/my employer has paid social security in the UK.

Does anyone know when, to whom, I need to present this A1 form in Portugal?

Thanks in advance!

What type of employment package should I expect for job offers in Luanda?

Expert Info

Submitted by P verma on
Destination: Luanda

I am being offered a Financial Controller profile by a company in Luanda. I am a CA from India and have about 15 years of post qualification experience with big MNC's in India. Some couple of hours research tells me that the package should include housing, food , a car, health insurance and one trip to home country every year.

That I am being given. My question to all friends who are in the know is " How much USD should one ask for as a saving. I am told this will be deposited in my account in the home country by the company every month".
