Move parrot from Australia to Saudi Arabia

Expert Info

Submitted by shadl10 on
Destination: Saudi Arabia
I am looking at a position in Saudi Arabia, but I am concerned I might not be able to take my parrot with me. I currently live in Australia, and would be looking to take my cat and my Alexandrine Parrot with me. If I can't take my parrot with me, I would have to turn down the position. Does anyone know if I can take him with me? Thankyou! Sarah

Mental healthcare in Czech Rep (English speakers)

Expert Info

Submitted by Libecek on
Destination: Czech Republic
My husband and I are thinking about moving to (and retiring in) Czech Republic. My husband is a Czech citizen (native Czech speaker), though he has been living in the USA for about 30+ years. I am from the USA and only speak English and a little French/Chinese, and maybe 50 words in Czech, with very few full phrases. My question is about mental healthcare in Czech Republic. Has any expat in Czech Republic had luck finding a somewhat decent psychiatrist and/or therapist who speaks sufficient English? If so, where and what is the doctor's/therapist's name, if you are willing to share.

Teaching jobs in Dubai?

Expert Info

Submitted by Not-Steve on
Destination: Dubai

Myself and two friends have been living and working in Qatar for the last 2-3 years, but are now looking to move over to Dubai.

The catch is none of us are qualified teachers. Having said that though, I have heard that there are schools in Dubai that will hire unqualified teachers.

Anyone else had a bad experience with a developer in Lisbon, Portugal? Any good ones?

Expert Info

Submitted by HollyStark on

Hello, My husband and I have been looking for an apartment in Lisbon for about 6 months. We have seen a lot of beautiful apartments, and even tried to purchase one in an old building that was being rehabilitated by a developer. We now wish someone had warned us, and hope to warn others; the developer misrepresented the promissory contract terms, asked us to sign a non-refundable reservation (which was unnecessary, and we were foolish to sign), then presented us with a promissory contract that contained terms different than previously represented.

Help with health insurance in Ireland

Expert Info

Submitted by twotanks on
Destination: Ireland
My wife and I are considering retiring in Ireland in 2018 (from the US). I'm 57 and she's 56. And I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what to budget for healthcare / health insurance. I believe we will be disqualified from the government program (medical card) due to income thresholds. If I understand correctly, we would be required to show that we have purchased private medical insurance. Is that correct? Are there ballpark figures I can assume for that insurance?

Moving back to Ireland from Boston 2019

Expert Info

Submitted by SabrinaG on
Destination: Ireland
I am originally from Co Louth and my hubby is from Dublin. Currently living in West Boston area, we intend to move back to Ireland in 2019 after kids finish up school in the June. In September 2019, One child will be starting 1st year and other will do transition year into leaving cert years. We have been out of Ireland for 5 years (well will be by 2019). Looking for some feed back on education and secondary schools. Do you think it will be a struggle for the kids to get 'into' the Irish way of education? More concerned for my eldest who will do transition year to ease his way back in.

Workable salary for Lisbon?

Expert Info

Submitted by QZM on
Destination: Portugal
Hello all, I've received a job offer from a company that does celebrity newswriting based in Lisbon. The thing is, I'm not 100% sure I should take it. A couple qualms about the work itself aside, I'm not sure if the budgeting will work out. They're offering me something in the neighborhood of 24,500 Euros a year, but when I try to mock up a budget I'm running into some difficulties. I'm not sure what that will look like post-tax (I'm apparently in the 37% income tax bracket?) and some prices aren't clear.

International Universities in Guangzhou

Expert Info

Hi there!

I am considering moving to Guangzhou with my 18 year-old-son, who is currently studying Photography at the university in Brazil. I am a little bit worried about finding an University in Guangzhou which accepts international students and which offers courses 100% in English. I was not able to confirm if the University of Fine Arts offers this. Any suggestion or information about this subject would be highly appreciated.

How high is the cost of living in Poland?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Poland

I am moving to Poland early next year. My company has offered me a salary of 13000 ZL. Base location would be Warsaw. I have a family of three (Self, Wife and 5-year old daughter). My wife and daughter would not be travelling immediately with me. I am assuming after about 3-4 months once I settle down.

Do you think the salary is good enough? How much do you think would rentals and other expenses cost?

Hello All, I am looking into an assignment in the UAE sometime early next year with my wife and kids. I have read several articles on this topic but but my situation has some caveats that those articles do not address. I know there are income, housing, and health insurance requirements when sponsoring a parent which will not be an issue for me.
