How do I get my six-grader into a public school in Brussels in the middle of the school year ?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Brussels
I am about to move to Brussels with my two kids, aged 11 and 9. They are both being educated in the French system, and I want to put them into a public school in Brussels. The problem is that we should move in a couple of months and my daughter is in what seems to correspond to the Belgian 6th grade. Meaning that she should take this CEB (or whatever it is called) test and move on to the secondary school as of September. My son is in what corresponds to Belgian 4th grade, so I guess it would be easier for him.

Hi Experts, I am an expat working in Malaysia under a contract of service (not employment contract) with the duration of 2 years. The company is not an MSC status company.

I would like to know that in the case I need to go back to my country, how long is the cooling off period that is applied to me? I already looked up for this information on the internet, some says 6 months, some says 3 months, some says 1 week, some says 3 days, some even says there is no cooling off period because it was removed several years ago..

What is the cost of living in Qatar like?

Destination: Qatar
Thanks for answering my last question. I know a lot of people get stars in their eyes about moving to that side of the world, the moment they hear about the big salaries. But I'm a bit more cynical- what are the living costs like in Qatar, especially when compared to a place like Dubai?

Dave

Need info on business centres or any other place where you can have a professional and reliable meeting room. I've been searching in the internet and one of the options I found for a meeting room in Jeddah, was regus, said to be the best company in the world, providing these services. If I could get feedback on this company by someone that has used the service or is using it at present.

How do I get a work visa for Fiji ?

Hey,

I travelled to Fiji last year and totally fell in love with the place. At christmas, I am returning but I have plans to stay their more long-term.

Just have some questions regarding work visas. I am struggling to find a job in Fiji at the moment so what I am hoping is that once I arrive I can start networking and interviewing for positions. Then once I've got the job I will just change my tourist visa to a work permit. Does that make sense ?

Anyone got any experience with applying for a visa for Fiji ? Does it take long?

Rent or buy in Cyprus?

Hi there

Thanks for the responses Xavier. I might actually stay in Cyprus for a year or two. The obvious choice would be to rent, but I was thinking about investing in property with my sister- having a nice house to retire at by the sea wouldn't be the worst thing.

Any thoughts?

Is it safe to use public transport in Nairobi?

Hi there,

Is there anyone in Nairobi that could help me. I am moving to Nairobi for 3 months to do a volunteer assignment. I am wondering what the best way to get around the city would be. I think it will be too expensive for me to buy a car for myself. What are my other public transport options? Is public transport safe in Nairobi? Its just that I've heard some stories.

Hi there

I'm going to be visiting my sister, who recently had an op in Cyprus. I don't want to ask to use her car (I'm weird like that I guess), so I want to know how the public transport in Cyprus is, and whether it would be a good idea to hire a car.

Thank you!

JK

I was offered a job as a section sales manager. I'm not sure of the location but it's most probably in Muscat.

However, the salary they are offering seems to be pretty low. It's something like Annual Basic 3360; Incentive 1600; Other Allowance 300; Additional Benefits include: Allowance for Car 2100; Fully Furnished Accomodation 900 Leave ticket to Closest international airport 110; Fulll medical and insurance coverage 100. The total comes to 8470 OMR a year.

Is this a good opportunity?
