Hey everyone, I'm thinking of going to Thailand to work and generally just get a different cultural experience. Has anyone got any insights into the cost of living in Thailand? Just wondering if I'll be able to earn a decent living, and still save enough to travel around Southeast Asia a bit while I'm there.

ISS International School in Singapore - is it a good school?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Singapore
Hi folks

Do any expat parents on this forum have kids at the ISS International School in Singapore? Word on the street is the school's "less stressful" than the top-tier international schools like UWCSEA or Tanglin Trust. Does that mean the standard's lower? And even if it does, is that a reason to avoid it, seeing as standards at schools in Singapore are pretty high anyway? Any insights welcome!

Anyone know a cheap shipper to ship `10 boxes & guitar from US to Cairo?

Hi, We're moving to Cairo in late August and are looking for a cheap shipper to ship(not door to door-that's too expensive)about 11 medium to large boxes(heavy books and ampliflier)(I'm a teacher and hubby is a musician)and a guitar in hard case from Memphis, Tennessee to Cairo or Alexandria, Egypt. We can do intramodal where we take and load and unload at the port or shipping station/company. We don't mind packing, loading, and lifting the boxes ourselves. I just thought I'd ask if anyone here knew of any good and inexpensive company.

I've read differing opinions on whether expats can have their salaries deposited into a Libyan bank account and rather end up having to have it paid into a bank account back home. Does anyone have info on whether expats are able to open a bank account in Libya at this point in time?

We are writing a guide to Schools in Singapore and are after reviews from parents who have their children at the Stamford American International School. How does the school compare to other American Schools in Sinapore? What are the facilities like, is the teaching of a high standard, what about extra-curricular activities and the atmosphere at the school. Does the school cater for children with SEN? Many thanks,

I am visiting Abu Dhabi soon and I need to get a sense of what I should pack. I know I need to be mindful and not wear anything too revealing/short but should I also wear more muted colors? How short is short in terms of skirts? I have a job interview so would like to also get a sense of what's appropriate to wear. Should I stick to jacket and pants or can I do a knee length skirt and jacket? Any guidance is appreciated! Thanks so much!

What's the cost of living in Indonesia like?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Indonesia
My husband has been offered a job in Jakarta. I'm a bit reluctant to go, as I've never lived in Asia and the culture is so different to what I'm used to. One thing that might be a positive is that his salary offered seems pretty good and I've heard that Indonesia is pretty cheap so we'll be able to save quite a bit of money. Is this true? Anyone got any insights into what things cost in Indonesia?

Destination: Abu Dhabi
Hi, I am traveling to Abu Dhabi for a few days and am looking for some advice on things to do/see during my visit. Unfortunately, I am limited to only a couple free days as I am going for a job interview. This is my first time visiting and would welcome any insight and/or advice on what to consider should I receive an offer. Also, considering I literally only have 2 free days to explore, and I will need to make a decision based on my short time, would like to make the best of my time there. I currently live in NYC, how drastically different will Abu Dhabi be in comparison? Many thanks.

How hard is it to find a job in Bangkok? I'd really like to work there for a year or two, but I'm not really interested in teaching ESL. I've got a pretty good resume for working in online publishing or advertising, and I was just wondering what the process is like. Is it easy to get a visa? Do companies like to hire expats? Any advice would be appreciated.

Job Offer in Abu Dhabi...is it worth it?

I'm currently working in KSA with a monthly salary of SAR 31k per mth for the past 2 years. I have been receiving an offer to work in Abu Dhabi with a salary of AED 27k per mth, which is lesser than my current earning. I'm having a big dilemma to proceed with the offer? Can I live comfortably with this offer with my wife staying together? How much saving can I make from this proposed salary though I know its ultimately depends on my lifestyle. Im struggling with my decision to accept the offer or staying in KSA. Of course, there is pros & cons for both.
