Hi , My company offered me an opportunity for a few years to work in their Port Klang facility. Apart from a lot of questions arpund terms, expat package and duration, I'm keen about your experience and advice about a good location to live, taking in account daily commuting into Port Klang, and 3 children (6/11/13) to go to a good school. Also my wife would like to take a job , probably after a few months only. Thank you in advance for your kind feedback, Jürgen

Hi I moved to California from the UK in the summer with work. They used a temporary SSN number in order to pay me my salary while my new one came in the post. However, the job fell through and I returned to the UK before my new SSN arrived. Now my work (which I have left) is asking for my SSN.....which I never received having left. Please can someone tell me how I go about getting it? I've tried calling the SSN help line but the automotive options are not relevant and the call ends with it saying they are very busy. Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm from Australia and my husband, I and our two children (2 and 4) will be moving to Whitefield, Bangalore in a couple of months for work. I'll be in Whitefield this week to look at schools, places to live, etc from 12 - 14 Jan inclusive and was hoping to have coffee with another expat wife (e.g., British, Aussie, Kiwi, American) to see how you've found it, what challenges you've had, any tips, any thoughts re schools, etc. If anyone has an hour or two to spare, it would be much appreciated. I currently have a full time professional job in Germany but I plan to move in with my Girlfriend in the Czech republic. I hope that someone is able to help with the list of questions I have below: 1. Do I need to register with the police in Czech to state I am living here? 2. Will I still continue to pay my income tax and insurances to the German Government? 3. Will I be allowed to keep my German bank account etc? Is there anything else I should consider? Many thanks Chris

American chef looking to move to Germany, will I be able to get a work visa?

Expert Info

Hi, I'm an American chef looking to move to Germany, I've already done research on the process but still have questions. First, I understand that it is difficult to find a job in Germany unless you are trained in an in demand field such as IT or engineering. I did graduate from culinary school with an associates in applied science, a two year vocational degree. Also I have read that you must first have a firm job offer before being granted a work visa. In my case it would be difficult to find a job in a kitchen without first being in Germany.

Hi dear local experts, My husband and I are planning to move to Canada. We both work in advertising and Marketing (He is a copywriter and I am a digital specialist). Looking at the jobs there from jobbank, I saw most of them were electrician or oil and gas industry. if you are an employer or know someone that is willing to employ expats in above fields, I'd be super happy to share with you our portfolios. Apart from advertising and marketing, i love working in forest and with animals, so I am open to these opportunity too.

Hello We are a couple that have been on holiday to Cyprus many times in the last 20 years, we are both in our early 50's and feel the time is now right for us to move to Cyprus, we particularly love Pissouri and Tala areas and all the villages. We would like to do a long term rental, i am self employed and would work from home with internet access and my husband will also be self employed and would need to find work, something like a handyman, pool cleaner, house cleaner, basically anything that would provide a small income.

I'm a 60 year old woman and I'd love to emigrate to the Western Suburbs of Melbourne from UK. My son and daughter in law emigrated over here a few years ago and I'd really like to relocate out there to be near to them but I'm worried about not knowing anybody other than my son and daughter in law and not sure how I'd go about meeting new people. Has anybody else been in the same situation and who could offer advice?

How do I get a Czech Republic residency permit for partner?

Destination: Czech Republic
Hi I'm a US Citizen. I was offered a job in the Czech republic. I contacted the Czech embassy about residency for my partner and was told he can only stay for 90 days because we are not married. According to the embassy, family reunification rules only apply to married couples and their children. I contacted a law firm I found online but they want 150 euros just to answer a question, and more to work on the case. What does it mean - he can only stay 90 days? Can he leave and come back? He gets a tourist VISA for 90 days, he leaves the country, comes back and gets another one?

Hi I am relocating to New Zealand from South Africa and plan to use Immigration Agents. I have dealt with 3 companies based in South Africa but don't feel comfortable with any of them. I have read and heard some horror stories. I have been advised to use a New Zealand based Immigration Agency. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks Carlos
