Curriculum

St Andrews School, Turi offers the British Curriculum. The educational philosophy of the school focuses on creating independent learners who can reach their full potential. Academic expectations and standards are high and every pupil has the opportunity to lead and achieve. Pupils are also expected to be active participants in our varied co-curricular programme, allowing them to gain confidence and experience in a range of activities.

The school's academic excellence, co-curricular programme, the strength of their pastoral care, and their commitment to developing leadership and teamwork encourage achievement, personal development and independence.

What the school says

"St Andrew’s is one of the leading independent international schools in East Africa. Numbering approximately 550 boarding students and comprising both Preparatory and Senior Schools, we offer an outstanding education based on the British curriculum to students across the whole age range.

"The school’s mission is to ‘develop self-disciplined, confident and compassionate individuals who live and lead with integrity’. This is set within a Christian context, which defines the very essence of the School and is the foundation on which our vision and values are built.

"The vision we have is of students going out into the world very well educated, and well equipped in every respect to be an influence for good. We aim to be true to our motto, ‘Seeking the Highest’."

Fees

For the 2020/2021 school year, termly fees for day students range from KSH 171,000 for Nursery to KSH 665,000 for Years 12 and 13. Boarding is available at an extra cost.

From the principal

"The school is a unique community in idyllic surroundings, offering a mixed race and truly Christian boarding education of the highest quality, following the British Curriculum.

"For all our Turi students, the measure of the quality of their St Andrew’s education will lie not just in the strength of the examination results, but in the values, friendships and attitudes that last for many more years than any understanding of the nuances of trigonometry."

From the parents

"I enjoy the opportunity to work closely with the teachers. Even though it is a boarding school, we are able to visit our children and meet the teachers at least twice a term. The pastoral care offered to the students is commendable because my child is now more independent, self-driven and more organised. My daughter has had more opportunity than before to participate in leadership and charity activities which have boosted her appreciation of society. The grounds at St Andrew’s are just perfect for the various sports and I am excited that the orchestral and academic performance of the school remain one of the strongest in the region."
