Will I be able to use public transport to get around Houston?

Destination: Houston, TX
Moving from NY to Houston in a couple of months and I am wondering if anyone can give me an insight into public transport. I am very used to using the subway, buses and taxis to get to work in NYC and I don't own a car here, as it is too much hassle.

Do you think I will need a car when I move to Houston?

Cheers

What are the best private and international schools in Johannesburg?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: South Africa
Hi everybody

I am moving to Johannesburg with my family, after my husband decided to take a job there. We were over for the World Cup in 2010, so I've seen a bit of Cape Town, but don't know much about Johannesburg. If anyone could let me know how the schools are there, I'd be very grateful. I guess we'd prefer a private or international school- just not sure about which would be better.

Thank you so much!

My name is Naomi Sieval, i am from Holland and i have been trying to get in contact with the misrad hapnim in Tel Aviv for over a month now. However, every single time people working for the Israeli government are directing me to different departments, which are opposite from each other. Last thursday i went to the israeli embassy in the hague in holland. and they told me that in order for me to get what i need i need to contact the misrad hapnim in person. Unfortunately no one is answering the phone (i tried multiple times with Dutch and Israeli phone numbers on several days).

Are UK pensions that are transferred to NZ taxed?

Expert Info

Destination: Christchurch
trying to get confirmation if UK pensions transferred to NZ are NOT taxed. I believe the rule is not for the first 4 years if the person is a 'transitional resident' (which migrants who have not been in the country prior are considered as). My parents have been told both by their bank and the tax people they do have to pay tax at 17%. They are getting confused by it all and are now not sure if that's just tax on the interest or tax on the full amount. Thanks in advance

What kind of companies are willing to hire foreigners and sponsor the work permit in Kuala Lumpur?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Kuala Lumpur

Hi all, in 2 weeks I will be moving from Europe to Kuala Lumpur to live with my boyfriend who is local. I have been looking for a job on the official channels (online portals, recruitments agencies..) focusing on my role but haven't been so successful, and I have learned and been told that regardless of my competences (Master's degree , 5 languages and 7 years experience) my problem is being a foreigner. I have recently understood that the best alternative is networking and getting directly to companies with specific features that are used to hire foreigners.

Do I need a car to live in San Francisco?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: San Francisco, CA
Hello

I will be moving to San Francisco on a fixed contract for two years. I know by reputation that the city is very hilly and walking long distances won't be fun for someone who isn't very active (like myself).

Is the public transportation system in San Francisco good enough for me not to have to get a car? I would prefer not to have to make such a large investment if I'm only going to be staying in the city for a short time.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Regards,

Dave Chilton
