Taxes on housing in Russisa

Expert Info

Hi, I've currently based in the UK, but have been shortlisted for a position based in Moscow. I haven't gotten the job yet, but it's looking good, and I wanted to start preparing to negotiate my contract.

I wanted to know if there would be any additional costs built into housing other than just rent and utiltiies. In the UK we have to pay council tax, is there anything like that in Russia? Furthermore, how much could I expect to pay for a fully-furnished one bedroom in a good area?

Child Care option in Hong Kong for Infants/young toddlers

Expert Info

Destination: Hong Kong
I'm moving with my family to HK. I will be working in the Causeway Bay area. I have a 18 month old daughter. Is she too young to be accepted into a childcare center in HK? If this option does not work, is it usual for expat moms to hire a in-house nanny to care for young child while they are at work. How much does it cost to hire an experienced nanny and what are the usual ways to find one (referals, use a service agent, etc)? In addition, If I would like to find an apt within walking distance to the MTR and childcare centers/kindergarden with good reputation, where is a good place to live?

I am an artist who has just moved here. I checked almost all of my gear before coming, but decided to bring my own sewing machine at the last minute. I am having trouble finding out where I can get a voltage converter. I am living in Ghent, and would like to get a converter as soon as possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can I get an Australia 457-visa with a drunk driving criminal conviction

Expert Info

Destination: Australia
I was convicted of drunk driving 10 years ago when I was 23 (and stupid), and never got it expunged. Now I've been offered a job in Australia, but I'm worried I won't be able to pass the character assessment of the application because of the fact that the conviction appears on my police record. Can anyone who has been in a similar situation let me know what happened?

Advice on possible future move to the US?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: The USA
Dear All, I currently work for the British RAF and my wife is a trainee Radiotherapist. Our hopes, on my wife qualifying and me leaving the military is to (fingers crossed) emigrate to the US. It will be on the basis my wife can get employment sponsorship on the back of work placements in the US during her degree. This will not be for a few years yet, but being new to reading about emigration to the US, I want to give both of us the best chances of successfully moving. So to that end, you help is both needed and appreciated .

Seasonal Holiday Work in Nice, France

Expert Info

Destination: Nice
I'm a South African looking to spend European summer in Nice. I'll be moving with my French girlfriend who has a passport, but I'll only be coming on Schengen tourist visa and won't really have the right to work. Does anyone know if it's possible to get paid under the table for bar work, waitering or even doing small jobs down at the docks? I'm pretty much willing to do anything.
