Hi there,

I need to learn about laws and rules of becoming and expat. I am an American with Polish roots. I have family obligations right now - but I am allowed to stay in Poland only 3 months.
I need to apply for a resident card but have no clue how to go about that.
Any advice would be appreciated.

My wife Betty and I have just arrived in Faro and plan to stay for an extended period of time. We are looking to meet Americans and Brits for social contacts. I will be coaching the Sharks, an American football team in Faro, but I'm also a rugby guy. We're interested in golf and have lived in Panama and the Bahamas. We would very much appreciate being shown the ropes. We'd like to get in touch via email first and then exchange phone numbers. We look forward to getting in touch. Our email is bettyncraig@yahoo.com Sincerely, Craig

When is the best time to move to Thailand with children?

I am a single mother. My son's dad passed away in May. I am in the process of making arrangements for myself and 2 sons to move to Thailand, Chiang Mai, to teach English. What I would like to know, my eldest son has 2 years left of high school. Would it be better if I wait until he has completed high school, or if taking that step to move would be more beneficial for him? I want to do what's best for my boys, which I do feel moving to Thailand would give my boys more or better opportunities than what South Africa can offer.

Hello, I have gone through a puzzling and frankly hard to believe experience. As a non resident Canadian (although Canadian citizen), I was granted a mortgage to purchase a home. However, when I actually submitted the letter of purchase to the Royal Bank, I was told that the rate I was quoted beforehand of 2% was to be increased to 2.24% for the following reason: (I quote) 'The majority of countries apply a withholding tax to certain types of payments (most commonly being interest and dividends) made by a resident of their country (i.e. the payer is resident) to a non-resident (i.e.

Which is the best way to apply for a permit in Norway as a non Eu citizen? Family immigration or work application?

Dear all, I am a Brazilian citizen and I have recently moved to Norway with my Romanian girlfriend. She has a 100% contract in Tromsø and I am still with a tourist visa. We have been in a relationship for more than 2 years, but we cannot prove it with documents or rent contracts because we have been working on a ship where we met. Usually contracts are of minimum 6 months, so every time we finished a contract we did holidays together and then embarked again. On the ship the company did not give us a separate cabin because only married couples have that privilege.
