It's all too easy to assume that education can only be either affordable or excellent. In practice, though, it's rarely that simple – in fact, a moderately priced school may even outperform expensive schools in international testing.
Compared to other international schools in Singapore, One World International School (OWIS) is modestly priced and offers an excellent standard of education. Thanks to centralised administration and careful fee structuring, OWIS is able to offer a system that allows parents the flexibility to choose where to put their money without compromising quality of education.

Flexible core and optional fees
Each family has their own priorities when it comes to their children’s education in terms of subject choice and options for extra-curricular activities. Most schools bundle fees together, meaning that parents pay for activities regardless of whether or not their children take part. At OWIS, fees are split into compulsory core curriculum fees and fees for optional extras. So for example, parents pay for a core class such as physical education, but extra soccer is optional. This ultimately allows parents the freedom to customise their children’s education.
Global support network
Small, independently run private schools typically lack the automatic support network that public schools have access to. As a result, the practical aspects of running a school (such as maintaining grounds, handling admin and payments, and hiring staff) can become overwhelming. To cope, the school hires more staff and implements extra systems, all of which costs money and drives up fees. However, as a member of the Global Schools Foundation, OWIS has access to the foundation’s admin systems and shared services. This is yet another way OWIS is able to offer a good education at an affordable rate.
Centralised administration keeps costs low
By implementing thoughtfully constructed administrative systems, OWIS saves time and money – savings which, in turn, are passed on to parents. In contrast to the often bureaucratic payment handling and HR management that characterise many private schools, the systems at OWIS are streamlined, simple and designed for efficiency.
