About the Singapore Education Awards
Every year, HoneyKids Asia hosts the Singapore Education Awards, aimed at identifying and recognising the best international schools in the competitive Singapore education industry. This year, 34 schools competed for Gold and Silver in 24 categories.
Tanglin Trust School was awarded Gold for two categories at the awards: School with Most Future-Ready Students and School for Best UK Pathway School. This marks the second consecutive year that Tanglin was awarded Gold for Best UK Pathway.
Best UK Pathway School
Tanglin is the oldest British international school in Southeast Asia. It's also the only school in Singapore to offer both the A-Level and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Sixth Form, so students can choose the pathway best suited for them. Tanglin's students have the opportunity to sit for IGCSE exams from not just one, but multiple exam boards: Edexcel, Cambridge, AQA and CCEA.
Its Infant, Junior and Senior schools are inspected every three years, following UK Ofsted British School Overseas (BSO) standards, and UK inspectors consistently mark it as 'outstanding', the highest achievable grade. The exam results of Tanglin students have been among the highest in Singapore for many years, exceeding UK and global averages.
The school also has a highly experienced university counselling team, offering personalised advice to students from Year 9 onwards about subject choices and pathways to UK university entry. In Sixth Form, every student has one-on-one time with a counsellor to discuss university choices. Tanglin's graduates are frequently admitted to their first- or second-choice universities, primarily in the UK where Tanglin has a robust programme to support and engage its alumni.
Most Future-Ready Learners
Tanglin considers critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, citizenship skills and unrivalled exposure to evolving technology the tools to propel their alumni to success, thriving in industries that didn't even exist when they were students.
The school's curriculum teaches students skills that are in demand, boosting their career prospects. One example is alumna Yin Noe, CEO of FinTech company Savium. Passionate about information technology from a young age, she was encouraged by her teachers to start the computing club.
Today, Tanglin offers courses and co-curricular activities in IT, coding and media, among others. The Design and Technology facility opened its doors in 2017, serving as a gateway to prepare students for the future as powerful tools like AI and machine learning become increasingly embedded in everyday life.
