Redhill School is a non-denominational private school in the heart of Johannesburg with more than 110 years of history. The school has two campuses – the high school and preparatory schools are in Summit Road, while a separate pre-preparatory is situated in West Road North. The school has an excellent academic track record with an unbroken 100 percent pass rate for the last 30 years – a success Redhill attributes to its frequent staff workshops, strong teacher-student relationships and a low teacher-to-student ratio. Pupils and staff are encouraged to strike a balance between academic and personal pursuits and a wide range of extra-curricular sporting and cultural activities are on offer. The drama and dance departments are particularly good.
What the school says
“Redhill has developed a deserved reputation for being a 'family friendly' school. The school accepts both boys and girls, from pre-preparatory to matric. Since it caters to entire families, Redhill builds and fosters strong relationships with pupils and parents. Teachers get to know their pupils and their families very well, a benefit that spills over into the classroom, onto the stage and in the sports fields. Features such as aftercare and holiday care facilities for younger learners, and a wide range of extra-murals for older learners also proves a very attractive feature for families. The very active parent body also contributes to a very warm and caring school community.”
The school follows the South African curriculum. Grade 12 students write the IEB senior examinations toward the National Senior Certificate.
The school is located in Morningside, in the heart of Sandton.
