Advice moving to Barcelona from UK?

Expert Info

Submitted by andreaferns on
Destination: Barcelona
We are thinking about moving to Barcelona from the UK mainly for a warmer climate. I have many questions if anyone has the time to help. So here we go.
What are the best International schools following the UK curriculum? We have a 10 year old boy.
Best area to live that has an UK expat community but with a Spanish feel, within easy reach to the beach and city?
Any advice on renting a house?
Advice on taking our cat and dog?
And any other advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Is there anyone who has experience as an expat in Malawi?

A friend and I have an opportunity to do volunteer work out there over the university holidays but we are just concerned about safety and culture shock? Will we be able to get on, ok? I've never been out to Africa!

Please offer your insights!

Possible to expedite process for residence visa for Taiwan?

Expert Info

Submitted by j_johnson90 on
Destination: Taiwan
I am planning to teach in Taiwan and already have my work permit from the school that hired me. Unfortunately, it's a rather arduous process and time is running out. The school is looking for ways to expedite the process for me as am I. I have been informed that it might be possible for the school to apply for the visa there for me and forward the information to the consulate. I want to know if this is possible and if there are any other ways to gain this residence visa. Any advice and tips would be really welcome.

Info about schooling & dependent parent in Sweden?

Expert Info

Hello I am a single parent with a 7yr old son from India. I am planning to move to Sweden for at least 3-4 years or even permanently if my work permits. I would like to know how does the education system compare with Indian & to which school(State, Bilingual or International) should I send him to. I would be relocating to Gothenburg. I will know the duration of my move to Sweden only after a couple of years I stay here. So I am bit unsure as to what school should I select? Would there be any after school care\classes so I am not tensed about my son when I am in office.

Private schools for kids that teach in Spanish?

Expert Info

Submitted by hilaryw on

Our family is hoping to relocate to Spain for the 2017-2018 academic year with a 9 year old and a 5 year old. Since we will only be there for one year, we want them to learn as much Spanish as possible at school. Sending them to a public school sounds almost impossible since we won't know where we'll be living until the fall. The private schools I've found online seem to teach primarily in English. Can you recommend a good public school downtown that mainly teaches in Spanish?

Advice on visa and marriage in Korea?

Expert Info

Submitted by jiralbabo on
Destination: South Korea
Hello, I plan to go to Korea next year and I need details on the visa/citizenship/marriage process for a US citizen with a Korean citizen. My plan is to visit first to get myself pre-situated and return to US once before making the final move for Korea. What kind of visa do I need, or do I need one to just visit for a few months? (What is the number of days allowed without a visa?) If I decided to just stay in Korea without returning to the US the first visit, would I be able to apply for visa while in Korea? Or would I have to return to the US and apply?

Using US Income to purchase UK Home?

Expert Info

Submitted by SJC1984 on
Destination: The United Kingdom
Hello,
I've just applied for a resident visa (through marriage) in the U.K. I am originally from the U.S and was wondering if anyone has any experience on purchasing a home with U.S forms of income. For me, I currently receive US Veterans Benefits and social security. These are my two forms of income. Can these be recognized as a verified form of income in order to obtain a mortgage to purchase a home? This would be happening in a couple years time of course, but I'm under the impression it would be counted as "solid" income to purchase a home with my wife.

Advice on moving from London to Muscat?

Firstly any advice from anyone living in Oman would be greatly appreciated so I hope to get a few responses. I have family friends in Oman and visited last year and I met a guy,we have been talking ever since and he has expressed that he wants to marry me, I have no doubts about him at all but am anxious about how I will adjust to the culture difference. I am of similar heritage, both east African along the line and am Muslim from birth so in some ways I don't think it'll be completely alien but I wondered what other expats had to adjust to
