I am from Dublin, been living in Canada for years. Have my Irish/EU passport (Canadian one also) and guess first question is do I need to complete any forms before I go? I am not planning on working there. Would rent for awhile. Health insurance how are the costs. Thank you and appreciate any help, tips and advice, John

How expensive is it to install internet in Vienna?

Expert Info

Submitted by confusedstuden… on
Destination: Vienna
Hi, I'm spending the year out in Vienna to work as a language assistant with the British Council. I'm renting a studio flat from a parent at one of my schools, which is perfect, but doesn't have internet access installed. I'd be really grateful for any recommendations about what is the easiest and, more importantly, the cheapest option. I just need the internet for uni work so large download amounts and it being super fast isn't really all that important.

Am I entitled to unemployment benefit as spouse of an expat in the UK?

Expert Info

Submitted by PrecillaB on
Destination: London
I am from the Netherlands and will be moving as an 'expat spouse' along with my husband to the UK (London) as per 1 January '17. I need to give up my job here in NL. An expert here in NL advised me to contact UK/HRM Revenue & Customs and refer to the Bergemann Arrest (EC Regulation) because it seems that as I'am traveling with my partner and need to give up my home job for it, it is posible to receive some kind of unemployement benefit in the UK. Did someone hear anything about the unemployement benefit before?

I have a long list of them now, and even tried to contact with few of them..But would be so nice to have any reviews, in terms of education, teachers there, and it's location. The problem is that we also want to find the apartment not so far from kindergarten, before moving. So, it would be nice to have some short- list .))

Tanglin, GEMS Academy or ISS school in Singapore?

Expert Info

Submitted by tompitman on
Destination: Singapore
We'd like some advice on schools in Sinagapore for expats, for children ranging from 7 to 13. We've been suggested to look at Tanglin, GEMS Academy and ISS school. But I gather these all have waiting lists, and we want to enrol for January. Can you recommend these schools, or offer other suggestions? How hard are the entrance exams, the children have been in London schools until now, and we would ideally like to continue with a British curriculum.

Hi, I am a 33 year old single Indian lady (of Goan origin) looking at settling in Portugal, preferably, one of the cities where I can earn a comfortable salary. I am a communications manager, holding a post graduate certification. What are the job prospects for a corporate communications-related opportunity in Portugal? I want to bring my parents along with me. I don't speak the language but am open to learning it. My mother speaks Portugese fluently. I'm keen on the country because of the culture, work life balance, senior friendly infrastructure and friendly atmosphere.

Can I extend a Romanian residence permit?

Expert Info

Submitted by nomadchad37 on

Hello, I came to Bucharest last year and started working as a volunteer at a school. I then received a temporary residence permit to live and volunteer at this school in Romania for a year. Is it possible to extend this permit under the same volunteer effort? Also, as a last resort, my contingency plan is to leave the country in order to "reset" the time. Can I go to Bulgaria or any other neighboring country to do so? I really need to know soon. Thanks in advance.

Advice moving to Barcelona from UK?

Expert Info

Submitted by andreaferns on
Destination: Barcelona
We are thinking about moving to Barcelona from the UK mainly for a warmer climate. I have many questions if anyone has the time to help. So here we go.
What are the best International schools following the UK curriculum? We have a 10 year old boy.
Best area to live that has an UK expat community but with a Spanish feel, within easy reach to the beach and city?
Any advice on renting a house?
Advice on taking our cat and dog?
And any other advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
