Any advice for an American woman moving to Bucharest?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Romania
I am a 29-year-old, newly single American woman, and figured that the best way to mend a broken heart would be to move far away - very far away - and start over. Plus, I've always loved to travel and the U.S. has begun to bore me. I figure that Romania is just as good of a place as any. Except for a few basic phrases, I don't speak much Romanian. Would the language barrier be a problem for me, or do most Romanians speak English as well? Also, where would be a good place to live? I'd like to find a place that is fairly upscale by American standards but still affordable.

How can I remain in the UK after graduation?

Expert Info

Destination: London
My daughter Brandy is an American student about to graduate from Middlesex University in London with a degree in Music business. She has made a life for herself in London and wants to remain there long enough to obtain permanent residency. She has great references, incredible work ethic, and is musically talented (voice, songwriter). Her current job does not pay enough nor is the company large enough to sponsor her Visa. The same holds true for the internship Brandy received. Additionally the changes in UK immigration laws are making it that much more difficult for Brandy to stay.

My son is now in 9th grade (CBSE) and I am shifting to dubai from India (Mumbai) in march, at which point he will be in 10th grade. Given that the local language is a part of curriculum and is mandatory, is there any exception granted to such students who are joining in the last year. Is there any school in Dubai where he can opt for an exception.

Please advise on any school or academy that teach in English language. We’ve found out online Kulinarisk Akademi is one of the good cooking school, base in Oslo. The website is in Norwegian language. I found their link in facebook and sent messages but was informed that it’s not a school but just giving courses to those who would like to improve their cooking skills.

Reference number for South Africa Permanent Resident Permit?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: South Africa

Hi everyone, Did anyone in this forum ever applied for Permanent Resident Permit (PRP) at the South African High Commission? If so, do they issue a reference number to trace the outcome of the permit? I am asking because I applied for it from my home country in Lesotho and they could not give me a reference for the application. They said they cannot give me the reference number since the decision is made in Pretoria not from the embassy.

Are my expectations on saving in Abuja realistic?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Nigeria
Dear expats, I've been offered a job in Abuja for which the yearly net income would be 80k usd, plus housing at a fancy apartment. A car would be included as well. That translates grossly into 6666 USD per month. I am single, don't have any kids, and I was wondering if I could save nearly 4k USD every month with living on that salary, given the fact that I would do all my best to save money. I came to this forum as a last resort to find out about this. I've already looked at the figures on basic supplies and food, and it seems to me that my guess is right.

Hi , My company offered me an opportunity for a few years to work in their Port Klang facility. Apart from a lot of questions arpund terms, expat package and duration, I'm keen about your experience and advice about a good location to live, taking in account daily commuting into Port Klang, and 3 children (6/11/13) to go to a good school. Also my wife would like to take a job , probably after a few months only. Thank you in advance for your kind feedback, Jürgen
