Will I need to get a car in South Korea?

Hi

So, I'm considering starting a Western bakery when we move to South Korea while my husband works at a university. I was wondering about how easy it is to get around and whether we would need to get a car, not only for business purposes but I was wondering whether it would be worth it for us to get around with in general.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Are you expected to pay a whole years rent upfront in Abu Dhabi ??

Expert Info

I have been researching suitable accommodation for my family as my husband has a new job in AD.

We are currently in the UK.

Is it really true that most landlords will ask for a year's rent upfront!? How can most people manage this? I have been given to expect a monthly rental of around £4,000 (UK Sterling) so would need almost £50k to start us off.

Employer will be paying an accommodation allowance but I presume that is paid monthly....what do people do in these situations?

Best regards

Hi, We are likely to be moving to AD in the coming months and Al Muroor looks like a good choice of area for us as we have young children and want to be near sports clubs schools etc. We are from the UK. Could anyone give me a ballpark figure to rent a house in this area with 3 bedrooms? My husband is currently negotiating package and a good indication of housing cost will be a great help. with thanks!

I wonder if someone can help me please. My husband is from the UK and I am South African. He came here for the first time in 1984 and got a working visa and then permanent residence. We then went back to the UK in 2001 for 10years and on our return they told him that his permanent residence have fallen away as he was out of the country for more than 3 years. We then applied for spousal permit which he got but its says relative permit and it expires this coming Saturday.

Hello there

I'm going to study at McGill University and will probably need to have a side job, and heck I may end up staying. What are the chances of getting a job in Montreal if I don't speak French?

I know it's a long shot, but thought I'd ask.

Thank you

Clara

Can anyone recommend the best international schools in Oman?

Hi there we are a family from yorkshire moving to muscat in the summer.

We are coming out at half term to look at schools; we have three daughters aged 5,3 and 18 months. All the schools are over subscribed and the older two are on waiting lists at british school, aba, royal flight and tlc.

There are places at gulf international and muscat international so it's likely we will have to accept one of these places. Tlc may have spaces but I've read some bad reviews.

Suggestions for international schools in Angola?

Moving to Angola soon with my three kids. My wife and I have been researching schools in Angola and there don't seem to be that many international schools in Luanda - certainly seems very few for a destination that has become such a popular expat destination. Anyone got any insights or suggestions for international schools in Angola? We're not too concerned about which curriculum the school follows, as long as it's international and offers a good standard or schooling and facilities.

Moving to New Zealand on a student visa - what will be wife be entitled to?

Expert Info

Destination: Auckland
Just discovered that NZ has a great deal for international students like myself to go there for 3 years and get a PhD. I understand my partner will also be entitled to a visa including a work permit. I have 2 questions: 1. must the visa be reapplied for every year, as I pay for the course 2. If my wife were to fall pregnant while there, would that jeopardise our welcome? I'm from the UK, she from Vietnam (if that makes a difference).

Is this a decent job offer in Abu Dhabi?

Expert Info

Destination: Abu Dhabi
Hi there... I have been offered a job in Abu Dhabi for a salary of AED 5000. I understand that it is a fairly low salary as I've been doing quite a bit of research. I am single - the contract is for a year and the only benefit being offered is Healthcare insurance. However, my reasoning is that its a foot in the door and I can always look around for something better once I'm there? Is that a logical way of thinking? Would I be able to live on that salary? I have a degree in Commerce - would it be relatively easier to be able to find a suitable job in my field for next year?

Has anyone got any insights about the business culture in Angola?

I'm considering a job in Angola's oil industry. I don't speak Portuguese and I've never lived in Africa. Has anyone got any insights into life in Angola, I'm particularly concerned about the business culture and etiquette in Angola. I've been working in abu Dhabifor the last year, so it will probably be a massive culture shock for me to move to Angola. Is the business culture more African or would you classify it as more Western? Conservative or casual? How important is it that I speak Portuguese?

How does the healthcare system in Norway work?

Hi there

Thank you Xavier for the advice on culture shock in Norway, it was very useful. I know a bit about the country's healthcare system but if anyone has any advice with regards to that, I'd be very grateful. For instance, how does an expatriate become eligible to receive free healthcare? If I am eligible, will my family be covered?

Thanks in advance,

Belinda
