Hi,

I was wondering if there are many Australian retirees living in Fiji.

Hi Russ,

Fiji is a popular destination for Australian tourists with over 360,000 Australians visiting each year. There are an estimated 3,000 permanent Australian expats of various ages residing in Fiji. Living in paradise year-round is certainly appealing for people looking to retire or relocate to enjoy a gentler way of life.

Immigration to Fiji is very strict, however. Before you start planning your retirement in Fiji, it is advised that you first check if you are legally permitted to reside in Fiji. If you intend to settle down in Fiji but don't want to work or set up a business, you would need to apply for the Residence Permit on Assured Income. Most expats who fall into this category are retirees. Have you been to Fiji on holiday before?

For more information see our guide on visas for Fiji.

Hope this helps!

Steve
