Hi,
We're moving to London for a year to work and our daughter is 14. We're considering international schools and thought it would be great if there were some other Australians at the school. Does anyone have any ideas of which schools Australians are attracted to in London?
thanks everyone

Hi there, I wish you and your family all the best on the move to London! Choosing a school can be difficult when relocating abroad, even if it's just for one year – fortunately, London has a range of schools for you to choose from. While I'm not aware of any specifically Australian-curricula schools, London is one of the world's most cosmopolitan and diverse cities and it's possible that you'll find other Australian kids attending a number of them. Schools following the International Baccalaureate curriculum are popular among expats from all over, and there are several other curriculum options available. You can check out our list of International Schools in London here. Would you also consider a local public or private school?
I also recommend the Expat Arrivals Areas and Suburbs in London page, as the neighbourhood where you find accommodation will also impact which school you choose. Do you have an idea of which area of London you are moving to?
I hope this helps!
Thank you for your reply. I would definitely considered a local school, but feel if I'm going to way of private, I may as well go international. but would love any recommendations.
All the best J
Jumping on this a bit late for your school search - but I hope that this is of interest to others. There are dozens excellent private schools in London that mostly have very international children, as London is such a global city. There's a good chance there will be some Australian kids, but also Americans, Canadians, Europeans, you name it. Of course many people choose to make use of the free state education, which in many instances is excellent too. Private schools are very expensive, and will only get worse if the new government adds 20% VAT on top. All state schools have what's called an OFSTED inspection, and are rated Excellent, Good, etc. These are a very good indication of the standard of the school but you should also visit them before making a decision. You normally need to be in the catchment area for the school in order to get a place, so many people choose the school first, then the area to live. Here is a good directory of fee paying London schools.
I see there is another thread on this topic: Australian schools in London
