Double taxation - Taxes in the UK and Italy

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Italy
I am a UK citizen resident in Italy. I have rented property in the UK and pay the difference between UK and Italian tax on my taxable income. Mario Monte introduced IVIE tax on property owned overseas. Our tenants pay the Council Tax on our UK property to the UK local council. We are now being asked by the Italian Agenzia Entrata to pay IVIE tax on our UK property too. Surely this is unfair. It's double taxation. Does anybody know if it is right for us to pay IVIE? Does anybody know how this tax is calculated? The Italian Agenzia Entrata don't seem able to answer my questions.

Hello all! I've been in country for 3 weeks and expect to work here for approximately 18 months on assignment. My husband will be joining me from the US in 1 month. The most difficult decision regards our dog...do we bring her or not? She has never flown before and hates high winds after living through hurricanes in Houston. Has anyone heard of issues with Customs? How is the process returning to the States? What is the chance of having problems getting her back into America? While we are in RSA she will remain in Secunda the entire time. Thanks so much!!!

Hi guys

I'm relocating to Egypt from the UK at the end of the year and would like to know what the public transport is like in the country. I think it would be fine in Cairo where I'm living, but what about getting from city to city?

Are there trains and buses etc? Or would I need a car?

Any comments would be a big help.

Thanks

I am investigating the possibility of moving to one of these Emirates in 12 months time, once I've qualified in Software Development (I'm from Ireland). I am curious to gain a perspective for the availability of jobs in the region, what sort of companies are based there and whether it is an expanding industry there? Furthermore, is there a willingness among IT companies to hire graduates and provide training to them or is it only those with relevant experience who have a chance of gaining employment. Also, are the salaries competitive compared to Western Europe?

Obtaining Angola work permit

Hi, Does anyone have an idea how best to approach applying for work permit in Angola. Employee is a French citizen currently living in Paris, and will travel alone (no family). We understand a few basic facts ie, application must be made through Angola's embassy in Paris and also that the embassy then sends the documentation to Luanda for the relevant government department to approve. My questions are: 1) for the government approval to be obtained in Luanda, do we need a local visa agent/company to monitor the process.

Help finding work in Mallorca?

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of moving to Mallorca and would like some advice before I take the plunge! I have worked as a stonemason in the Yorkshire dales for the past 20 years and wondered if despite the crisis in Spain I would still be able to find construction jobs there? I appreciate that Spanish people will not employ foreigners and I would only expect to work for expats. I have experience ranging from ground work through to roofing and was also brought up on a farm so I can turn my hand to most things! I have studied Spanish before; 4 months of intensive courses at various locations.
