Advice on Singapore offshore pension plan?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Singapore

I wanted to ask further opinion on so called offshore pension plans (such as proposed by Royal Skandia, Generali etc...). I read an interesting thread on this topic in those forums but for some reason could not post additional comment. I still have concern with this type of product - I am putting aside the usual concerns and considering it is being monitored by a professional agent therefore money is being invested in proper funds and the client is not looking at closing the plan early.

Offer of employment in Riyadh - thoughts please?

Destination: Riyadh
Hi I have just been offered a job in Riyadh and the package offered is 18,400 SAR basic, 5000 SAR housing and 1000 SAR transportation allowance. I am coming from the UK with my wife. From the research I have undertaken the housing allowance would not be sufficient enough to get say a 1 or 2 bed apartment in an expat compound? I would like to get peoples views on this and indications over how much it is likely to cost and the likely hood of actually getting a place there. Also would the 1000 SAR be good enough to get a small car? General comments about the package offered will also be useful.

Hi I'm moving to Lagos with my 8yr old daughter next year and want to continue the work that I do here in the UK as an arts educator in Nigeria. I've worked in arts education for over 10 years working across London and South-East England delivering and managing innovative creative arts projects in schools across all year groups as well as lectured on Theatre degree programmes. I want to set up a theatre in education company but would like to know the best approaches to schools? I've tried cold-calling but that hasn't been productive at all and the British Council hasn't been helpful yet to

We're moving to Kuala Lumpur in early 2013 and are trying to sort out our accommodation. Does anyone have any suggestions for good areas to live in KL? We're a family of four, with two school-going kids, so would like to be near the international schools if possible, as I've heard traffic is a nightmare, so the closer we can be to the schools the better....

Hi there,

I was wondering whether there are any expats living in Colombia that could give me any advice on working in Colombia. I want to take a year or two out so that I can explore Colombia.

I've been spent some time in Argentina and Brazil and would like to try somewhere new. Most of the people that I know have gone to South America to work as English teachers. Would expats in Colombia recommend teaching English? How would you go about applying for a position?

Hi there,

I was wondering whether there are any expats living in Croatia that could advise me. I went to Croatia for 3 weeks over the summer and totally fell in love with the country.

I felt it was the perfect place to set up my own business. I am keen to set up a small guesthouse for travellers and I've got 10 years experience in the hospitality trade.

Has anyone else set up a business in Croatia. What permits do I need ? Is it straightforward to get the documentation ?

Thanks.

Sex Educators in Norway

Destination: Norway
I have recently finished my education in America and have moved to Norway about 6 months ago. I have been reading up about being a sex educator and apparently in US and Canada if you take a separate 2 week course you can become qualified to become one if your education permits. I've tried to find info about it here, but anything I read about Norwegian sex education has led me in the direction of saying a biology teacher will generally teach it as part of the course. So if that is true are there no sex educators?

Hi all, myself (age 43) and my partner (40) and daughter (8) are looking to relocate to Spain, preferably barcelona, in July/August 2013 & are keen to find out all we can regarding schools, we cannot afford to send Maddy to an international school but have been told about public schools possibly accepting her or semi-private schools, any info gratefully received. Also, is it legal for me to continue running my own business, UK based, from Spain without having to pay any Spanish taxes? Any info on any subject you think is relevant would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Spencer
