Where should I live in Adelaide ? Will I need to get a car ?

Hi,

I am busy planning my move to Adelaide, Australia at the end of this year. I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good suburb for me to live in. I am a single guy, so a one-bedroom place will be perfect. I'd like to be close to the centre of town so I can get to work quickly. If there is a chance of being close to the beach, that would also be great (as that is a big part of my reason for moving to Oz)

What's the food like in Taiwan?

Is it possible to find Western food in Taiwan? I'm thinking of things like pasta, pasta sauce, flour, Western fruit and veg, that sort of thing. Can you only find these things in speciality stores or do normal supermarkets also stock some Western food? Is it expensive? Also, for Taiwanese food in supermarkets are ingredients all in Taiwanese or are ingredients also in English? I have some food allergies so I like to know what I'm eating.

I've been reading some blogs and it looks like all anybody ever eats is gross chicken feet and weird things like that. Is it possible to buy normal Western food in Korea and is it really very expensive? Does food in stores have English ingredients on the packaging or is eveything in Korean? I have some food allergies so I like to know what I'm eating.

Any advice on good or bad recruitment companies in South Korea for English teachers?

Expert Info

Destination: South Korea
There are so many recruitment companies for the English teaching industry in South Korea. How does one tell the difference between a good one and a bad one? Can anyone recommend a good company to go through for someone looking to teach English in South Korea? Does it ever happen that you land yourself with a terrible company that plonks you in a bad school, or is it that you are supposed to look into the school itself and it isn't the recruitment company's fault if the school is bad? How does it all work?

Things to remember about culture in Korea?

I'd like to know what I can and can't say to interviewers or bosses in Korea, and actually just people in general. For example, I read somewhere that when you hail a cab you have to keep your palm down or something? Also that you mustn't answer back to people in authority, and when you hand over a business card it needs to be done in a certain way, and stuff like that. Is there a special way to hand over money or paperwork other things or is it just business cards? Please I just don't want to offend anyone - any little things like that would be good to know. Thanx.

Hi

I am going to teach English in South Korea next year and am trying to get a job in Seoul. I was wondering how far I could live from the school - what are my options, should I get somehwre as close as possible even if it is expensive? Hhow long does it take to travel on public transport? Is it likely to find somewhere within walking distance? Also, how do people who don't speak Korean get around - are the signs and maps in English as well? I know Seoul is supposed to be huge (I've seen some pictures) but I'm from a small town so it all sounds a bit overwhelming.

Hello everyone, I recently registered my daughter at Keystone International in Dragos, IStanbul. I really liked the school, the atmosphere was so positive. The curriculum is approved by the California Department of Education, there is a real yard for recess and the food is organic. I am not second guessing myself at all but just wanted to know if anyone had anything to add about the school. Thanks Paige

Destination: Abu Dhabi

I am negotiating for a job in Abu Dhabi. The company has told me they offer "all inclusive salary packages". Then they asked me what I would like my minimum salary to be. My question: what does an "all inclusive salary" mean? I will ask for less money if they offer financial assistance for rent, my child's school, etc. I'm just not sure if this term means something special in Abu Dhabi. Thank you.

We are going to move there and I received a package of 19000 AED (basic salary) and 13000 AED (Housing allowance) per month. Health insurance and education included. Do you think it is enough for a 3 member’s family (parents+ 1 infant) to leave decent? Thank you for your answers!
