Long-term freelancing in Israel

Expert Info

Destination: Israel
Hello expats! I'm a non-Jewish American man hoping to move to Jerusalem to be a freelance reporter. I'm hoping to stay in the country for 6-12 months, ideally for 12. I would hypothetically be selling stories to U.S. media outlets. Is it possible to do that without a work visa? If I DO have to get a work visa, do I need it to be sponsored by an Israeli company? (Hopefully not!) Any advice you can give is much appreciated. Sincerely, Hunter

British, divorced.....Illegal??

Dear all, I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced the same problem as myself. I married a South African in Oct 2006, we lived in the UK and had 2 children (both British citizens), we moved to SA in May 2012 and my ex husband divorced me in July 2014. I applied for permanent residency in July 2012 but wasn't issued with my permit until January 2014! It wasn't for some time until after I was divorced that I was made aware that my permit had a stamp on it stating 'should the marital relationship break down within 2 years of the issue of the permit then the permit shall become invalid'.

Destination: Florence
Hi there, We are moving to Florence with our two 6 year olds in November, I am Dutch, she is Japanese, I have traveled for the last 25 years all over Asia so I am ok with moving to yet another country. Question is, is there a Japanese community in Firenze? Would love for my wife to have a few Japanese speaking people, not in the least for the kids to stay multi lingual. Another question, where would you recommend to rent a house away from the centre, but not to far from nice restaurants :) ? Your assistance is appreciated. Thanks! JP.

Hello, I've just read the guide on this site for preparations in moving to Italy, what to do when you're there etc. I moved here 2 and a half years ago with my Italian husband, we had been previously living together in the UK. He's fluent in English so we always speak English. We moved to a part of Italy neither of us knew, with the aim of him developing a new business and me teaching piano/English. 2.5 years on and his business is flourishing, he has done really well and I'm proud of him for it.

I am a South African citizen and I have Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK. I have been offered a great career move to Dublin, Ireland.

How much tax would I pay on my salary?

The company still has to get back to me on whether or not they would have to provide me with a work permit based on my South African nationality, or my ILR status.

Hello I got a question concerning the employment/work visa. I'm actively looking for a sponsored job in the US. I've looked on various websites for jobs that are specifically sponsered by employers however I haven't found any job I'm interested in. Therefore I'm thinking about applying for a job I'm not really interested/ which is not suitable for me if it means getting the green card as I really wanna live & work in the US asap on a permanant basis.

I am looking at relocating to Spain. I originally lived and worked there 17 years ago and have my NIE number. Is that still valid? Do you need to have residency in spain if you want to buy a property there.I hold dual citizenship for Australia and UK but have worked overseas for many years and I would still possibly be working overseas even though I wish to buy a property there. What is the correct way to go about this. Many thanks and much appreciate any advice : )

Hello everyone, I have seen several posts over the years asking for advice and information about this company. I would like to make it easy by stating that they are without a doubt the WORST company I have ever been in contact with. My credentials are that I worked for them from Oct. 2013 to Dec. 2014. I was placed in Dammam and then a short stint in Khobar. I fulfilled all of the obligations of my contract. Lets just say, that my experience was almost exactly the same across the board for all employees.
