Hi. I have recently received a job offer for an oil company based in Iran. I am married and have a 6-year-old son. What options do we have for his schooling? Will he be able to go to a public school or private school? What are the costs for schooling? Thank you.

Hi!

Congratulations on the new job. Schooling is one of the most important factors to consider when moving to Iran. This is often one of the largest expenses aside from housing. Unfortunately, the language of instruction in public schools is Persian. This makes it very hard and unlikely for foreign children to attend public schools. There are private schools available that have English classes. The most popular choice thought is international schools. These schools tend to be expensive, however, they offer international curricula and instruction in languages like English and German. Many companies employing foreigners do offer a schooling allowance, so this is something you could definitely bring up with your employer.
