Hi everyone, we are an Australian family looking to move to Athens in January next year... however, we have so many questions about the move to Greece. As we can not travel, we are looking for someone to assist and give us advice on recommended real estate agents and an attorney to help with visas and paperwork for Greece. Are there any recommendations of locations and areas to live and stay in Athens, such as those close to the beach? We are hoping to buy a villa, we want to be close to shops, restaurants, bars and so on.. our priority for accommodation is a good location. We are also looking for assistance in finding the best schools: what are the suggested schools in Athens?
We appreciate any feedback and advice anyone can provide, and are very excited to start our research and new life in Greece.
Thank you all,
regards
Darren

Hi Darren, it sounds like quite an adventure and a wonderful opportunity to move from Australia to Greece! It's often best to start exploring your options sooner than later, so it's great that you're already looking for real estate agents in Athens and investigating your options of areas and suburbs to live in.
Do you already have a job in place for when you move? I ask this as it's an important factor when applying for visas and work permits in Greece, and your employer is normally involved in the paperwork. Expat Arrivals has an overview to various types of visas and work and residence permits in Greece: Visas for Greece. Though visa regulations are subject to change, it's a good starting point.
The whole guide of Moving to Greece and Moving to Athens will also benefit you, especially the pages on Accommodation, and on Education and Schools in Greece. Kifisia is a popular area residential area among families in Athens, however, this depends on your budget, as it is an affluent neighbourhood. In terms of schools, you will probably find yourself looking at private or international schools.
When relocating, especially as a family, you've probably got a lot on your plate, and one of the best suggestions (though pricey) is to go through a relocation firm. Have you considered any relocation companies for moving to Greece?
