Dumelang. I am an experienced Australian midwife and I am hoping to live/work in Maun for a year from next July (Covid allowing) so am starting to consider/research options. I need a resource person for many questions.....Where can I find information about jobs available at the public or private hospital, clinics or immunisation services? Is my registration in Australia recognised? Will my employer help with work visa? What is the general pay rate? Can I work part time? Do I have to work in all obstetric areas including labour and delivery ward?

Im at the start of my information journey so I will be thankful for any information.

Hi @OZNALEDI! That sounds like a fantastic experience in Botswana. Have you lived there or visited Maun before?

A helpful overview page to finding a job is the Expat Arrivals Working in Botswana page. This is just a general and brief look at the job market. Hopefully someone familiar with your field of work, in the healthcare sector, can reach out to you. Do you have any contacts in Maun who can help you network? Roles and requirements may vary depending on if you are working in a public or private hospital.

In terms of visas and work permits, employers normally carry out much of the work in this, and so it's often helpful to find a job from abroad looking at job portals. Our Visas for Botswana guide will help with this too!

I hope that helps!

All the best,

Claire

Thankyou Claire for taking the time to reply. I was casually in Maun in February this year and had planned to return in September to start networking for employment opportunities during my stay. Unfortunately covid intervened so now more difficult to manage remotely. I have read the 'working in Botswana' page and was wondering how to contact a recruitment agency.  Im wondering if it will be easy or harder to find work now covid is upon the world. I do have a contact in Maun but not in the health sector.
