Most employers will probably want you to sign a one- or two-year contract at least. Recent changes to labour law in Dubai mean that you can now work part-time in Dubai in addition to your usual full-time work - that is, work for more than one employer. But part-time work is best sourced in the UAE itself. You will probably struggle to get a work permit without the benefit of a full-time contract. (See Working in Abu Dhabi, Working in Dubai and Contract Negotiation pages for more information). Also, remember that a part-time contract won't include things like air fare and accommodation allowances, so it is unlikely to be a lucrative enterprise - more like something you do to supplement your income if you're already working or studying in the UAE.
The salary will obviously depend on how qualified you are and the type of work involved. Have they made you an offer? Remember that you can always try to negotiate a better contract with employers in Abu Dhabi. The best thing to do is to consider the cost of living in Abu Dhabi and see whether the salary will meet your needs. If you have children, remember that schools in Abu Dhabi can be very expensive, so don't be afraid to try negotiate a contract with a school allowance.
The cost of living in Abu Dhabi is ridiculous, especially accommodation. A small bachelor flat in Abu Dhabi starts at about 80,000 AED a year. You can probably survive on 5,000 AED a month, but it won't be fun - you'll probably end up having to share a one-bedroomed flat with someone else, and even then rent will take up most of your salary. If I were you I'd try to negotiate an extra housing allowance.
It depends on your nationality and what subject you teach. If you are a first-language English speaker with that much experience you would definitely get a job in Abu Dhabi in one of the international schools there, as these are constantly expanding and always looking for new staff. There are also lots of Indian curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi. For an introduction to schools there and for contact details and reviews of the best schools, please download the free Abu Dhabi Schools Guide.
