Hi there,
With Brexit around the corner, more and more British expats living abroad have questions they need answers to, particularly regarding healthcare abroad. According to the official GOV.UK website, British expats living in Portugal before the end of 2020 and receiving a UK state pension will have continued rights to access healthcare. As far as I can see, even if you move in 2021, you should be able to access the healthcare system. However, such matters/processes are potentially subject to change and you will probably need to follow certain procedures, such as getting an S1 form. Is this a form you already have? Read more here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/healthcare-in-portugal-including-madeira.
I would suggest, for personalised assistance, to contact a department such as the NHS Overseas Healthcare Services. The link I included above provides the phone number: +44 (0)191 218 1999
For a general overview of the medical system, facilities and pharmacies, you can also check out Healthcare in Portugal.
I hope this helps?
Best,
Claire
