Advice on the cost of living in Egypt?

The cost of living in Egypt is very affordable especially compared to some of the big cities in India like Delhi or Mumbai. It also depends on the lifestyle you want your family to have while out there and factors like wether you choose to send you children to an international school.

Hi Im an Indian working in Dubai Bank. Have an opportunity to move to Egypt within the same bank. Have gone through the other comments which has been of great help - but would reques some more clarity on the following - 1. With the political and civil instability, how is the living environment for an expat - is it very restrictive? 2. Have a family with 2 small kids - 4.5 and 2.5 years old - are there any good Indian curriculum (CBSE / ICSE) schools available? 3. My wife is doing PhD in Biotechnology - are there any universities offering this line...even if you can let us know some website etc that will contain this info, it would be helpful. 4. COst of Living - I get 35AED in Dubai currently and would expect a similar level in Egypt..i.e. 52K egyptian pounds. For a decent lifestyle (Villa or a good 2 BR appt, once a week entertainment etc), what might be the expected cost of living? 5. WHat are the modes of entertainment for an expat - are movie theatres in existence? Are there other kids related activities that happens like in Dubai? 6. Is there any expat who i can contact on the phone / mail for a detailed chat...if Indian it would be nice as it would help in in figuring the cultural differences more clearly, but anyone else would also be fine. Hi Suri, it really depends in which city you will live and work. Cairo is a huge place to live with everything like cinemas, theatre etc. The coast of the red sea is already different. El Gouna is pretty expensive like high class in europe, Hurghada became a big city good and annoying attitudes. Cairo might be better for you and for your family. Regards

Hi I will be visiting Cairo for a day (June 27th) on my way to Rome accompanied by my wife. The Egyptian airline promised accommodation. The flight reached 12.00 noon and the next day flight is at 14.15 hrs. We want to visit Pyramids as well as Museum. Kindly advise how should I go about it?
