Can I use by UK licence in Dubai or do I have to retake my driving test?

hi i've got a uk license with cypriot passport and i was told that i need to take driving lessons,but i know some people with the same license as me that they managed to get a license without lessons. what is actually happening ? would i be able to avoid the lessons ?

if you have a UK driving license you do not need to take a test in Dubai, you can immediately convert your UK license into an Emirates license, I think you just have to pay around 300 aed to get that done, it takes 1 or 2 days to get the new one. Hi, I am 19 years old and moving to Dubai in January... I don't hold a uk driving licence but is it possible that i can learn and take a driving test in Dubai?
