Dear fellow expats,
I am a recent graduate from an American university in Spain and I am considering moving to Shanghai for a 2 to 3 month internship.
I am thinking about hiring a recruitment agency which does the internship/job hunting for you and guarantee you a placement if you are admitted to their program.
So, my first question would be if anyone has experience with these? I am talking about Gi2C, Top-Intern, IntuuChina, etc. Any advice?
Also, how likely is it that a company would hire me if I intern for them?
I have always been a good student and I've done very well at my previous internships, so you can assume that I shall prove myself to be a good worker.
What I am curious to know are the general tendencies in hiring interns. If you have any other comments/advice you would like to share, I would be most grateful! Cheers!

It is becoming fairly common for young Western expats to do relatively low paying internships in China. In doing so, they forego immediate material rewards for the experience and long term benefits it has for the their careers.
Many of these expats either do get full time employment in China, or they return home with invaluable experience that looks good on their resume.
I would suggest having a look at our Working in China and Working in Shanghai pages. I would also have a look at Visas for China and Work Permits for China pages.
These will let you know a bit more about the work environment, but also give you an idea of what will be required to go over.
Hope this helps,
Xavier
