Mobile Phone and Internet service in Melbourne?

Hello, I m wondering what my best option, in other words cheapest, is for getting a mobile phone for local calls and internet, that I can also call back home on. I've looked at pre-paid cell plans from Vonafone, would one of these with a sim card, and an international pre-paid card be my best option?
