Hi I am from Philippines and working in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates. When my employer applied me for an Employment Visa they request me to go for medical in order to process the remaining documents. My question is, "Who will shoulder the medical expense since it is under the processing of the Employment Visa. Is it the "employer" or me(employee)? I am just confused since they asked me to pay for it AED 250.00

Hi Octo 76,

Generally, the company hiring you would shoulder the burden of obtaining your work permit for Abu Dhabi and paying the necessary costs. But there is no real rule as such and it will ultimatley depend on the company.

Most companies in Abu Dhabi are familiar with the visa process and therefore are in a better position to deal with the bureaucracy. It may be the case that the employer will reimburse you the cost of the medial expenses. However, its best to check with them beforehand.

For more information on the process of obtaining a work permit check out the Work Permits for Abu Dhabi page.

Good luck,
