G'day! My name is Jason Ring and I would like to reach out to see if there is anyone who can help give me any advice on moving to New Zealand? In short, I am a US service member on active duty and am a single full time parent of a 9 year old son on the autism spectrum. I am set to retire in September of 2018 and am very interested in moving to New Zealand with my son to live, work, and settle down. I'm starting my planning now to get an idea of what to expect and what I need to do in order to build a game plan from the ground up. Any and all information and help would be greatly appreciated. If interested, I will make email contact if that is suitable :) Thank you one and all!

Beware!
Kiwi's hate America/americans.
I have been in NZ nearly 20 years living in a smallish regional town. Only staying until my children reach university age.
Although there are some exceptions I have found 99.9% Kiwi's to be rude, racist , arrogant, anti intellectual, dishonest, small minded, ignorant and lazy.
Housing is awful,
Education standards pitiful
Cost of living exhorbitant.
Culture of violence and bullying.
No regard for the environment.
My express advice to anyone thinking of relocating here is:DON'T.
Sorry to be so negative, i wish you and your son luck in finding a better life.
Hi Burgi,
I've been playing around with the idea of moving to New Zealand too. Most of the info I have seen online makes it seem like the Kiwis are all very relaxed, friendly people. I have been considering NZ because of the outdoor lifestyle and what seems like a generally good living conditions.
Seeing your comment here has made me think twice. Can you tell me about some of the experiences you've had living there?
