I've heard that people struggle to get a work visa in Bahrain. Does anyone know why it's an issue for welders or fitters to apply for a work visa?

Hi Milko,

Though I can't find anything specifically related to welders and fitters, the problem may lie in restrictions set by the government in Bahrain. Quite a few countries have laws in place that restrict the number of foreigners a company is allowed to employ. In Bahrain, there is a general agreement that about half of the workforce has to be Bahraini citizens. This makes it harder to get a work visa.

There are also countries that have specific skill requirements foreigners need to meet before they can work in a country, so it could be the case that welders and fitters aren't on the list of required skills. Where did you find out that welders and fitters have issues with work visas?

You could have a look at our guide on Work Permits for Bahrain to see how the process works. However, my suggestion would be to contact your local Bahraini consulate as they would best be able to answer visa specific questions like these.

All the best.
