What's there to do in Lagos as an expat?

Hi-

I moved to Lagos, Nigeria about six weeks ago and other than watching paint dry there seems to be little to do. I don't have any kids and I don't drink, so please, no recommendations for mum-n-tot pottery days or binge drinking activities. Desperate for some advice, is there anything to do in Lagos as an expat???

Hello,

I also had a similar experience when I first moved to Lagos. There was little to de besides (as you say) watch paint dry and spend some time on the beach. Now though, I've found little things that occupy my time and keep me distracted while not working. If you're keen for something mildly touristic, have a look at the fishing bridge going from Victoria Island to Lagos Island. There's lots of fisherman there and it's pretty entertaining and relaxing to watch them catch the fish and pull them from the creek. You can even buy the fresh fish and prepare if for supper if you like, though I'm not sure if the creek is polluted. You can also take boat rides on this creek, which might be fun!

There is loads to do in Lagos, several beaches lie in the island and there is also the Motor boat club.You can decide to take up golfing at the frinedly Ikeja Golf Club or if you live in the Island Ikoyi Club, you can also play Tennis and squash.There are numerous pubs in Lagos which have live bands you dont have to be a drinking man to attend, security is a concern just like in other cities the world over so always endeavour to be security conscious.There is the National Museum and also the Muson Centre where u can watch some good plays and musical concerts.

Very good advice above. There is also a club if you are interested in fishing called Apapa Boat Club. Do not eat fish from the creek as a regular thing as it is highly poluted. An occasional fish in the pan is okay. Basically it is the heavy metals and not the bacteria that you have to worry about.

loads of things are there in lagos to do. you can go from victoria island to ikorodu where you can experience speed boats the nigerian way. Also find time to spend in ikorodu town to enjoy fresh fish delicacies and generally mingle with other foreign nationals like the indians and chinese and bet you, it will be splendid
