Good Morning: I am a student that will be studying abroad next week. I live in Austin, Texas and part of our assignment to prepare for our visit is to get a better understanding of the differences and challenges we might face while traveling, visiting with businesses and engaging regular life.

I lived in Europe for about half of my life -- basically all my formative years, but have never been to South America.

Hi! I'm a graduate student in the US. Our class will be traveling to Peru in the next week, and we have a class assignment to reach out to expats currently living in Peru to find out more about the transition from US to Peru as well as the Peruvian culture. If you have a moment to answer any or all questions, it would be greatly appreciated. 1. How long did it take for you to fully adjust to living in Peru? 2. What is the business culture in Peru like compared to the US? Is there anything that stands out as being different when attending meetings and/or doing general business? 3.

Current MBA Student, Looking Into Possibly Working In Chile After Graduating: Questions

Expert Info

Submitted by txstateatx on
Destination: Chile
Hello Expat Arrivals community, I am a current MBA candidate with a focus in international accounting/finance. I am hoping to be able to land a job with a large consulting or accounting firm and then have the opportunity to work abroad. I am drawn to Chile for a few different reasons, one being we are currently studying the Chilean business environment in class. Their open economy with bilateral trade agreements and a focus on attracting foreign direct investment seems like a great opportunity to learn how dynamic economies can be created.

Wife sponsoring her family in Abu Dhabi?

Expert Info

Submitted by Sacha on
Destination: Abu Dhabi
Hi.
My wife was recruited by a major financial group in Abu Dhabi as a computer programmer - although she is actually a mobile user interface specialist web designer with almost 20 years experience in the field. This was the closest description they had to her actual job. Her work visa etc was approved two weeks ago and she is leaving this Friday 16th June. We just learned that a woman cannot sponsor her family unless she has a degree and we are in shock! She does not have a degree. I heard one can appeal once there, has anyone had experience with this?

Help! Trying to figure out housing in Pardubice, Czech Republic

Expert Info

Submitted by Dbwl on
Destination: Czech Republic
Hello, We could use some help/advice. We need to very quickly find a place to live in Pardubice near the University. We have the option of living in university housing but they just sent photos and looks like it's really just a small dorm room(one with a bathroom and "kitchen"). Since I'm 50 and my husband is in his 40s, living in a dorm is kind of a last resort. Do any of you have any advice of neighborhoods that are decent. Anyone know of any good agencies that can help us rent? Also, any thoughts on being able to do a decent short term rental anywhere while we look?
