I've heard that Romanians are super rude, and difficult to befriend. Is there a large enough expat community in Bucharest that I won't have to count on the locals to be kind?

Hello, I don't think we should put all Romanians in the same pot. Some may be rude crafts while others are super friendly. The expat community (Americans, Brits, French, Dutch, Italians etc) in Bucharest is very large, but give the locals a chance and who knows, you might end up with a lifetime buddy.

Bucharest is over crowded, and that's why it might seem rude. But that happens in every big city. Romanian in general, are not rude to tourists.

Hi, I have lived and worked in Romania (Bucharest) for 4 years for an Oil Company as an Expat.. and I can tell you that Romanians are the most humble and friendly people in Eastern Europe. Some exceptions for sure.. rude, arrogant and drunks, but believe me there are almost 150 expats (Brits, Americans, Pakistanis, Egyptians Germans OZs, Austrians...) working for that Oil company and none of them whom I knew, had any problems with locals...and we drove all over the country and its the same story. Mostly expats with families live in Baneasa area in Bucharest. This area have big villas, nice homes, American, british, Canadian schools, very close to the Airport and new US embassy and shopping Malls, IKEA and all the nice stuff. I remember my time in Romania as one of the best times of my personal and professional life. and I would love to go back. I am originally from Pakistan but been out since 15 years and worked in 5 different countries. Now I am in Canada but hoping to move from here soon. cheers.

Hello Mustafa malimm0a
My name is Farrukh. I am a British citizen. Having lived most of my life in England and the US, I am thinking of moving to Romania. I would like to get in touch with you to discuss more, if that's ok with you. Regards, Farrukh
