Where are the best weekend destinations for expats living in Singapore. I can imagine going stir crazy not leaving the island but perhaps there are many things to do over the weekend in Singapore. Suggestions? But also what are the best weekend destinations which are within a couple of hours flight? Hong Kong, Bali, The Philippines, Western Australia, Malaysia, Myanmar? Any suggestions for places to go with and without kids would be great.

I wrote an article called "Escaping the Singapore Squeeze" not so long ago, which addresses your question!
While my answer won't be nearly as comprehensive as Bry's article, I can still say, when it comes to escaping the Singapore Squeeze for a bit, you should have a look at some of the more popular Group Buying sites - Groupon SG or Deal.com.sg - there's often great bargains to be bagged on everything from five-star hotels to spa packages to fantastic activities.
In general though, regional travel is much more affordable from Singapore than from many other expat destinations; just one more perk of expat life in Singapore!
