Going to visit my sister in Abu Dhabi in June. Do I need a visa for Abu Dhabi for a two-week holiday there? I'm British.

Hi GlobalNomad, as a British citizen you won't need to arrange a visa for the UAE before you travel. You will be granted a free visit visa upon entry into Abu Dhabi, which will be valid for 30 days. You will need a passport valid for at least six months and a return ticket. To read more about this, visit our Visas for Abu Dhabi page. Hope you have a great holiday!

Hi Anon

Yes, as an Indian citizen you will need to arrange a visa before you arrive in the UAE. For that you'll need the sponsorship of a UAE citizen or a UAE-based company. Perhaps your aunt can get a friend or neighbour to vouch for you. Good luck!

Does the return ticket have to be within 30days to be granted the 30day visit visa? or can it be within say 6 months? (I have a British Passport and want to go out for holiday in advance of my UAE employment visa coming through; seeing as the return can be up to 12 months it would be useful to have the return ticket at a date I may use it to reduce the cost of a a home visit)

Hi

Unless you are an American citizen and hold a US passport you will need to apply for a visa before leaving for the UAE. You will need a friend or family member in the UAE to sponser your visa. If this is not possible your hotal in Abu Dhabi can sponsor your visa. You can contact the UAE embassy in Washington DC for more information, although they cannot help you apply for the visa.

For more information on the rules and regulations, have a look at our page on Visas for Abu Dhabi.

Good luck.
