Hi Robert

This is a fairly complex issue that would best be dealt with by a professional who is familiar with immigration legislation, not only in the UAE as a whole but also the by-laws of the specific emirate she is in.

As you'll see from our Working in Dubai and Working in Abu Dhabi pages, labour legislation does tend to favour employers, and her case would unfortunately not be helped by her status as an illegal worker.

Have a look at those sections, which are fairly in-depth, and let us know if you have anymore questions.

I hope this works out for her.

Best of luck,

Xavier

I am planning to relocate to Abu Dhabi in January. Any suggestions on schools for a second grader and 7th grader?
