Hi Byms

According to the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, yes, the child will automatically be granted Argentinian citizenship and will require an Argentinian passport to leave the country. Effectively, the child becomes a dual national who can claim citizenship in Argentina as well as (assumedly) his mother's country of birth.

Have a look at our Visas for Argentina page to get a better idea of how the system in general works.

Best of luck,

HI Byms! the citizenship will not be automatic, you will have to apply for it. It is quite easy though. Congrats!
