Hi there

My husband is in finance and was offered a job in Singapore. Our son is 9 years old and I've just started exploring our options for schools. I know they speak English and have international schools but what are the prospects for a Western child going to a local private school?

Thanks

Hi Sally

Singapore has some good private schools but it is often difficult for expat children to get in because preference is given to locals. The best schools, as with anywhere else, will have long waiting lists.

As a result, most expats opt for an international school.

For more, have a look at our Education and Schools in Singapore page as well as our free Singapore Schools Guide which gives a comprehensive look at the education system in Singapore and what the prospects for an expat child are.

Good luck,

Xavier
