I'm arriving in the Netherlands in June and I need to sort out my medical aid. I hear that it's compulsory for everyone to have medical aid. Is this true. Does anyone have any insights in the healthcare in the Netherlands? Who offers better facilities...public or private hospitals?

Hi Anya, the Dutch healthcare system offers a high standard of care and the lines between private and public healthcare in the Netherlands is somewhat blurred, so whichever you chose to use, you're likley to receive adequate care. All residents are expected to have comprehensive health insurance, so this is something you'll need to investigate. I suggest you have a look at our Healthcare in the Netherlands page for more info.
