I have recently arrived and am a bit concerned about a few things to do with travel. 1 Does it take long to change my UK licence to a Kuwaiti one (I have been told up to two years)? 2 How do I find out the bus routes in Kuwait - i need to get from Salmiya to Shuwaikh? 3 How do you purchase a monthly bus ticket?

Hi Chris,

It is possible to drive in Kuwait with an internationl driving licence, but once you receive your Civil ID then you need to get a Kuwaiti licence. The process varies depending on a persons nationality and I think its best to check with the traffic department.

Kuwait has an established bus network which is quite comprehensive. However, it doesn't always run on schedule, which is a bit annoying for commuters. You should visit the Kuwait Public Transport Company website for more detailed information on timetables. The site should also tell you where to buy tickets.

Check out the Transport and Driving in Kuwait page for a better overview on getting around.
