Hi there, I am new to this forum! But in need of some advice about my scheduled stay in South Africa. I have been to SA last may, and I was astonished by the beauty of the country. While in Bloemfontein I was offered a scholarship at the UFS. The bursary is around R80,000 a year, I know this is not enough to live on, so I scrapped some savings and an additional bursary from a private fund, and it comes down to a monthly allowance of ~R 18,000. Will this be sufficient in Bloemfontein and have some good South African r&r? I am also planning to buy a car, rental would be to expensive if I'd travel all over the country as I am planning to do. Am I correct to say that the 3-series BMW will have a good and steady value when trying to sell it back? Wat are your experiences with the VW's? Somebody told me these cars (golf IV, V and VI and Polo's) are much more likely to be stolen than the BMWs, is that true? Thanks a bunch!
